REASONS: "You have eluded Satan, you have eluded me for the last time, " The Sheiff told Everett and his crew. Even Tommy suggested that Cooley was the devil himself. Just as they are about to hang, the travelers beg God to help them out. He conjures the great flood to get them a second chance and banish the Devil back to his firey realm OR . . . . .was it all a big coincidence?
